About Fort Douglas Cemetery
Fort Douglas Cemetery has served as Utah's premier military cemetery since 1862, honoring the service and sacrifice of American soldiers from the Civil War through Vietnam. Located on the University of Utah campus with commanding views of the Salt Lake Valley, this historic National Cemetery represents over 160 years of military heritage and serves as the final resting place for thousands of service members.
Established by Colonel Patrick Edward Connor in December 1862, this 3.26-acre cemetery was originally part of Camp Douglas and was transferred to the National Cemetery Administration in 2019.
